Who we are

The inspiration for Two Homes, One Heart was born from two decades of direct work with families navigating high-conflict divorce. What we saw—over and over—was that while there were resources aimed at supporting parents, there was a glaring gap in support for the children and teens who were living in the tension but left out of the conversation.

We realized that kids were internalizing adult conflict, often without tools to make sense of it. They were mislabeling emotional experiences, personalizing parental behaviour, and trying to “fix” situations far beyond their control. This wasn’t just about surviving divorce—it was about what kind of adults these kids would become. We wanted to equip them with lifelong emotional literacy, not just short-term coping strategies.

The catalyst came when a school counsellor reached out asking, “Do you have anything I can use with a 13-year-old who just found out they’re moving schools because of custody changes?” We didn’t, but we knew we could create it. That was the tipping point.

Are others doing this?

Some organizations address emotional wellness, others tackle conflict resolution, and a few touch on the impacts of divorce. But very few (if any) combine all three through:

  • A trauma-informed lens,

  • Kid and teen-specific design,

  • And directly addressing the behavior of parents without placing the burden on the child.

We’re not aiming to duplicate what exists—we’re filling a blind spot. Our tone is real, respectful, and relatable. We don’t “teach at” kids—we give them language, context, and power.
